FIGHT-PTSD.ORG was conceived by "Big Fella" who is the author of the BFD BLOG! The idea came out of a sense of outrage and concern for American active duty military personnel and veterans of all eras, who are PTSD war casualties that are being neglected by the military services and other government entities who should be responsible for providing adequate services and support. Big Fella is a veteran of the Vietnam era and served in the United States Navy, beginning when he was 17 years old, from 1965 to 1968. After his naval service Big Fella began and still continues a career in the financial services sector, specifically involved in leveraging technological business tools. He attributes his ultimate maturity as a member of our society and his success in his career and life to a very large extent on his training and experiences in military life. FIGHT-PTSD.ORG is operated on a shoe string budget, but what might be lacking in terms of monetary resources is more than compensated by enthusiasm, time, and an appreciation and respect for all those who have served in our military and become casualties as a result of their service. The intent of this organization is not to raise money, not to provide any direct services, but to raise awareness of, obtain redress for, and provide encouragement for those injured by PTSD; to advocate for suitable and deserved assistance to them so they can rebuild themselves, in order to lead healthy, productive and joyous lives. In our view our country has failed those patriots who have given their lives in service to all of us. By having "given their lives" we do not mean only those who have perished in service, but we also mean those who have dedicated their lives in the military services and who have through their freely given service become war casualties and will live the rest of their lives with service related disabilities. We welcome the participation of anyone and everyone in our advocacy efforts. We hope that awareness and enthusiasm for our advocacy will become "viral", and with sufficient interest and support this web site and the information and utility of this web site will evolve and become increasingly useful to PTSD advocates and those suffering from PTSD. In addition to the Army Campaign that is described on our Advocacy page, we plan to collect and publish information and links to various resources that would be useful to advocates and those with PTSD. We plan to make our Bulletin Board available to post notices and information from advocates and those with PTSD. We would like to post the actual stories of those who suffer PTSD as part of our awareness effort and in an effort to provide an outlet for those with PTSD to reduce some of their suffering through the expression of their stories and feelings. FIGHT-PTSD.ORG is not a fund raising organization. Use of our site and its resources is free. We do make communications materials available for our advocacy. The materials are available for sale via our fulfilment agent, ZAZZLE.COM which has no affiliation with FIGHT-PTSD.ORG except as our fulfilment agent. FIGHT-PTSD.ORG will earn commissions on any purchases you make from our merchandise gallery at ZAZZLE.COM. We anticipate that any income that accrues from these commissions will be negligible. We are not offering these products in order to profit from them. Any income that is derived from the commissions will be applied to our costs, which currently consist primarily of Internet domain name registrations and web server services. Any incidental income above and beyond that needed to cover our web site expenses will be donated to 501 (C) 3 or 501 (C) 4 advocacy and charitable organizations, of our choosing. Purchases of FIGHT-PTSD.ORG advocacy items are not tax deductable. We want your feed-back, please email us and give us your questions, comments and suggestions. Email us at Big.Fella@FIGHT-PTSD.ORG. Our header photo array depicts three phases in the life of James Blake Miller, also known as the "Marlboro Marine". Miller is shown in the three pictures as a young, unscathed 20 year old Marine on initial deployment to Iraq in 2004, after being pinned down during an all night firefight in Fallouja, Iraq, on November 8, 2004, and then almost three years later, after being discharged from the Marines due to PTSD. This is the face of a young American patriot who will be a disabled casualty for the rest of his life, all because he served his country. Learn Miller's full story here. |
