Major General Gale S. Pollock Acting Surgeon General HQDA 5109 Leesburg Pike Falls Church, VA 22041-3258 Dear General Pollock: I am writing to you as a concerned American about the current unacceptable situation in which Army personnel who have sustained injuries manifest as Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome, as a result of activities in the combat zones around the world. It seems that you and the Army as an institution are not properly acknowledging, diagnosing and treating Army personnel who are PTSD casualties. This has been documented in The Nation by Joshua Kors in his articles titled "How Specialist Town Lost His Benefits" and "Specialist Town Takes His Case To Washington", which I am sure you are familiar with. General Pollock I view the current practices that you permit to continue, unabated, of misdiagnosing PTSD casualties which leads to classification of these casualties as Personality Disorders to be at minimum bad judgement and at its worst, morally intolerable. I believe that you have lost the passion that you had when you first trained as a medical professional, mistaking cost-containment and absolute fealty to your superiors who may be directing you to "weed out" PTSD casualties from the roles of the Army. I believe and hope that this is a momentary lapse in your recollection of your duty as a medical professional to heal and comfort. Please consider your prior actions and re mediate them by:
I am depending upon you to recognize your true duty to your fellow soldiers. Sincerely, Signature: _________________________________ Name: _________________________________ City & State: __________________________________ |
